Rent Party

As migrants from Venezuela and other countries are shipped by bus or plane to Chicago, they arrive with very few possessions. Non-profit organizations and mutual aid groups have stepped up to provide immediate needs from food, clothes, healthcare, and legal assistance. Our partners, Southside Strong, are working hard to distribute clothes, toiletries, and other household items to migrant families for free. Led by three amazing volunteer women, Southside Strong is running a free store called La Tiendita. Chicago Global Shapers is organizing a “Rent Party” to celebrate Southside Strong and fundraise to help them cover rent and utilities at the basement of Coppin Community Church.
