Greater Chatham Initiative
Goal: To reduce the high vacancy rate and revitalize the Mahalia's Mile commercial corridor in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood.
Challenge: Engaging a diverse group of property owners (international, national, and local) to collaborate on activation strategies.
Current Climate: The Greater Chatham Initiative is a community-driven organization dedicated to revitalizing the historic Chatham neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. This vibrant community, home to over 122,000 residents, is facing challenges such as high poverty rates, limited access to technology, and a significant number of vacant storefronts along the bustling Mahalia's Mile corridor.
The Initiative aims to address these challenges by fostering economic development, promoting community engagement, and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Chatham. By working with local businesses, property owners, and residents, the organization seeks to create a thriving neighborhood where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Scope Of Work
- Develop effective messaging to galvanize property owners and inspire them to lease their vacant storefronts.
- Create a compelling vision for Mahalia's Mile that highlights the potential benefits of investment and development.
- Work with the Greater Chatham Initiative to coordinate outreach and engagement efforts with property owners.
